A full three course meal, (big starter, very good main, lovely dessert and a bottle of very pleasant wine. - 11 euros a head) beat that. On entering this establishment, turn right into truckers dining room ( spotless) and enjoy good food at a really good price.
A pleasant roadside hotel/restaurant, between Challans in the Vendee, and Machecoul to the north-east, it is well-frequented by lorry-drivers (a good eye for a bargain,) locals and holidaymakers alike. The Menu du Jour costs the princely sum of 11 Euros per person for three courses plus wine! Amazing value - and the food is very acceptable as well. There is a self-service starter bar, with a wide and interesting selection, the main course is a substantial meat or fish course (the pollack was delicious) with vegetables, and the sweets are standard but pleasant. The free bottle of house wine was a serious bonus.
