I went to this restaurant for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The location is lovely, with small waterfalls that block out any traffic noise. However, I waited over half an hour for my meal, which I understand because it was a busy Sunday morning. Unfortunately, when my meal arrived, everything on the plate was cold, including the toast. It was very disappointing.
My husband and I decided to have lunch here during our visit to Mackay on the advice of a friend. We both chose the Crispy bacon with pear and walnut salad. Well all I can say is, it was presented beautiful and was delicious. We would recommend.
The Cafe in the Botanic Gardens is a charming place to enjoy delicious homemade treats, especially the fresh scones. We also saw some impressive high teas being served. The service was efficient, despite the busy atmosphere. The verandah overlooks a peaceful lagoon, providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. We even spotted a relaxed carpet python basking in the sun below. During our visit, we were fortunate to see a special Botanic Art exhibition commemorating 250 years since Banks and Solander collected plants on Cook's voyage. The cafe offers breakfast, lunch, and gallery exhibits, with operating hours from 9am to 3pm, and extended hours on weekends. We enjoyed our first visit so much that we returned the following day.
We were fortunate to snag the last table on the charming covered deck overlooking the lagoon in the garden. Little did we know, there was a large python peacefully resting in the rafters above us, adding a unique touch to our experience. The staff were welcoming as we ordered our morning coffee and a delicious treat from the display cabinet. While there were a few tables inside, the best seats were definitely outside on the deck. As we savored our coffee and cake, we kept a watchful eye on the python above us before going for a stroll around the beautiful gardens. The cafe also showcased colorful crockery and had a sign advertising High Teas, promising a delightful visit for any tea lover.
