Jockey Club - Mackinac Island

Casual dining on the grounds of the Grand Hotel. The restaurant is located adjacent to the hotel in a large red and white tent, which at first seemed a little tacky next to the opulence of the Grand. The service was fantastic from the maître 'd to the server. We had the lamb shank and smoked gouda mac 'n cheese with lobster, both outstanding! We weren 't rushed and took our time to savor the delicious food and peaceful surroundings outside of the tent. The only reason I deducted one star was because of the tent atmosphere, but otherwise no complaints!

Food was fine. Service was terrible. I had to go get my own drink from the bar after asking the waiters twice. Ambiance is nice but does not come close to making up for the service. I would much rather eat in a dive bar with great service.

I had dinner at the Jockey Club with my wife and my 93 year old mother. The dinner was good but my complaint about our experience was related to the Maître d'. When are arrived for dinner I asked him about getting a taxi back to our hotel as it was about a mile away. He told me to let him know when we were ordering dessert and he would get us a taxi. I did as instructed and he assured me he would take care of a taxi. After we finished dinner the Maître d' was no where to be found. We waited about 40 minutes and no taxi appeared. We asked the bartender and he assured us he had heard the Maître d' call a taxi but he wasn't sure which taxi company he had called. Well, from my own research there is only ONE taxi company on the island. Eventually we ended having to walk back to our hotel home which really soured the whole dinner experience.

As guests at the grand hotel, we wanted something a touch less casual than the main dining room. We sat inside here and would recommend it over the patio if you're more dressed up. The oysters and burrata were great starters. Steak Frite was very good, maybe a bit less sauce would be preferred. The service was extremely prompt and professional. Highly recommend!

We had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The brunch was delightful, and the salads were particularly tasty. Sheldon crafted some amazing cocktails and was very friendly. I’ll definitely be returning. I also loved the cozy decor!
