If confirmed, the second thing you should do is to ask yourself why the hell are you in Ensenada? If there is no reason, then leave immediately. If there is a legit reason such as a cruise ship stop, then head to Tacos Andreas. This is a food trailer on a street corner across from the McDonald's that has best fish tacos that I've ever had. Why? Because the fish was bought from the market a mere hour or two before I took a bite of it eliminating any middle men, processing, or unnecessary handling. The fish was sliced, breaded, and fried directly in front me. I was given some local intel from our horseback riding tour guide stating these are his favorite fish tacos because the owner buys his fish fresh every day from the market. We came right around noon time on a Friday and the owner said his fish was not ready for tacos. When we returned about 30 minutes later, the owner was finishing prepping some skirt steak for the steak tacos and was just starting to slice the filets for the fish tacos as some lard was melting in the fryer. I watched him slice the fish, bread and took a video of him frying it. The fried fish itself, would have been good enough for me, but throw it in a tortilla, add some tomatoes, onions, cabbage, crema, and a squeeze of lime and you have a few tasty bites of heaven. $1.25/taco makes it a definite steal. The white fish was absolutely delicious, the flesh was flaky, yet still moist, with a unique oil flavor that I can only describe as buttery. After polishing off the first taco, I inquired what kind of fish that I just consumed was, and was told it was cazon, which I had no clue what that translated to, but after looking it up, I found out that it was dogfish shark. I proceeded to order and demolish three more fish tacos and one steak taco. The steak taco was definitely one of the better ones I've also had for the same reason of it being freshly prepared. No doubt a gem that I would not have found without a little help.
