When they have it! Whilst the service was not exceptional, it was very good. The portions were generous and glass of wine was a decent amount, no skimping. I loved the parrot fish which was delivered just half an hour before my meal. Wonderful
I was in the Madeira area more specific by Caletha and I wanted to eat some typical food from the area. So I found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. It shows at tripadvisor that the restaurant was open until midnight. We walked in by pm...and we were told that the kitchen was closed. What it really bothered me was the attitude of the owner. He was very unkind and kind of kicked us out. I would have been ok if he would show a different attitude. We end up going to a restaurant around the corner Restaurante A Poita. I’m glad we did. Even if their kitchen was also closed. The owner was super nice and accommodated us. We had the best rice with seafood ever
We visited due to it's good TA rating, but we were not impressed. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, but there was no real rush to attend to us.The decor is dated and bland and the food was average, nothing more. For dessert there were no fresh dishes available, just one of those glossy menus with pictures of the frozen desserts they offer (vienetta, tiramisu etc). Not a good sign. The waitress was very moody and did nothing to make us feel welcome.I wouldn't return here given the better choice of restaurants in the area.
The person who took our order was unhelpful, she was mainly in a hurry for us to finish the order. We were expecting very fresh seafood from the reviews so we picked the seafood platter at 36 euros for two. Dried out mostly likely frozen scallops on the shell. Same thing with crab legs (no center, saved for the locals?). The rest was the same sauce as for the pasta sauce. Not bad and probably OK with pasta. Saw the locals with Bacalhau soup which looked nice. Also sardines. Would have liked to be led to these meals by the waitress when we asked what was fresh. Wouldn't come back.
