Four of us went to this gem for dinner last Friday. The staff was as warm and attentive as one could hope for. We started with crisp, delicious house salads and the best French onion soup in the region. For entrees, two of us had the seared cod with mushrooms in vermouth sauce, the others the braised pork shank. These dishes were flavorful, aromatic, generous and satisfying. We finished with the flourless chocolate cake and the delightful trifle dessert, together with Brian's elegant coffee service. All of this in an intimate, beautifully decorated, warm setting. Kettle Black Kitchen has a very European vibe, and reminded me of those little, out of the way restaurants in Paris that are the best. Great experience!
We had a great experience! The food was great- In particular the grits and shrimp appetizer, cod entree and flourless chocolate cake were excellent. The wine selection is good and reasonably priced. The owner was friendly and passionate about his food while also working the front of the restaurant! We will go back!
Dinner tonight was again fantastic! Started with grilled oysters-should have doubled the order they were the best since New Orleans, possibly better! Will be back for those alone! Main dishes have been spot on.. cod wonderful, pork delicious, steak tender and yummy. Great wine and beer selection but the best is Brian the owner, his friendly manner and incredible knowledge of food and wine make this small, warm restaurant a definite keeper. Want to keep this a secret but have to share what a treasure it is, they will do just fine here!! Until our next dinner..
This is a nice place if you have a chance to go. The people who work there are nice and wonderful. There was a bad winter storm so I placed a takeout order that night! I ordered the sour orange pie, pate de Campagne, and the Cornish hen.
