We tried swad on Sunday for a late lunch. for $12,50 a person, we had some very good food. there are two large rooms with many tables. we sat immediately and our server took our drink order. the buffet takes up a few walls in a room. there were some suppening that for salad and many immersing sauces. the samosas were the best I had. the pakora was good. it was a bit like falafel, but not so delicious. the chicken marsala was creamy, buttery and tasty. the biryani was good, but included pieces of bone-in huhn, of which I was not fan. the Tandori chicken was good and the tandori mixed grill was delicious including sausage, onions...more
Unforgettable! peshawari nan was exquisite. my dining room partner ordered lamm curry and I ordered veggie curry both were excellent, but when we mixed the two together, it was love on the first bit! really delicious eating. If I could eat here every week, I would look forward to it every time. waitstaff was very attentive and polite. wonderful experience.
Yummy! great food and personal, attentive staff. the mango chicken was great! I will definitely return.
Up there for the best Indian in the Madison vicinity. The lamb kabob on the lunch buffet was a nice surprise. I spoke w/ the owner, and if sounds like he will be locally sourcing what ingredients he can. Also, he said he prefers traditional fats over gross rancid industrial seed vegetable' oils- give me desi ghee and coconut oil any day! I hope Swad positions itself vs. its competition by really pushing local high quality ingredients. Indian food is mostly gluten free naturally, so if I can avoid vegetable oils and fake additives and chemicals, I will be back often!
