Especially if you work based on tips, He didn’t even greeted us, he got to the table asking what we wanted to drink, not even a Hi or sum, I have work as a waitress before and I have neveer ever not greeted a guest, his attitude was just not it, we felt like he was there just not to call in, like force idk, and I know that for sure cause we call another waiter to get something and we felt another vibe with him, he seem nicer, the second guy with the blue shirt was more attentive but we didn’t know how this restaurant works or who was the actual server, but anyways, the food is average and coming from someone that lives in a big city I have never EVER pay more that $4 dollars (tax included) for a TACO!!? Likeeee but here they charge $3.25 $1.99 because I got fajita? So $3.25 for the 2 bag tortillas and cilantro? (Cause I could barely see the onions) and I don’t mind paying it but if the taco was good but it wasn’t even worth it. But anyways, just for anyone not local, this place isn’t worth it, or at least it wasn’t today.
I'm doing something I never do, but i'm gonna leave a poor review for a restaurant. I really struggle about this idea because I feel mean spirited but it was so disappointing and I wish there was a way I could have asked for my money back. We were absolutely starving, and it would be very easy to impress us, after a long day of travel. The service was great, the restaurant was beautiful, everyone was friendly and happy, but the food was absolutely awful. I ordered shrimp enchiladas, and the shrimp was just boiled shrimp with no spice, rolled up in a soggy tortilla. No cheese, or anything else. It covered in this weird mushroom sauce. I've never seen the enchilada without a speck of cheese. There was nothing inside it accept the cold boiled shrimp with no spice. My husband's meal was equally disappointing. He ordered a green chicken enchilada with again, no cheese. Also his tortilla was very soggy wrap around the unflavored chicken. The only reason I am sharing this is eating out expensive. You want the meal to at least be tasty, and the only reason we ate it is we were just so hungry we just wanted to go. The iced tea was delicious! I don't know if they were just having an off day, but i'm not sure I would risk it again.
My wife and I stopped here on our road trip. Being from San Antonio we have good Mexican restaurants nearly everywhere. However, this was the best I’ve ever tasted by far. The Carne Guisada is like none other: lots of flavor, love that it has potatoes and carrots, bell pepper, onions, and who knows what spices. Even the refried beans had flavor. If you are used to Tex Mex and think stuff is a little bland compared to other international foods, this place will be a very pleasantly surprised. I sampled my wife’s dish as well and the same feeling. Definitely a pro chef. I can see why people drive here from distances.
A definite go-to restaurant for authentic Mexican food. With limited selections in this area, this place beats the big chain restaurants often found in Houston with the selection, quality of food, and service. Madisonville may be a small town but they have a great restaurant which is clean and friendly and with good prices.
It is a great experience with great food and service 11/10 would recommend for anyone even if you don't like Mexican food you will love this.
