The upscale ambiance and impressive selection of wines further enhance the dining experience. Highly recommended for those seeking a memorable culinary experience.
An elegant restaurant with a lovely terrace on a fashionable street. The food is really nice and the service is impeccable. The ingredients are very fresh with lots to choose from the menu. The paraguas salad was really fresh and simply seasoned. The lobster rice was delicious the lobster sweet and the rice perfectly al dente. Desserts are really good as well. Definitely worth a visit.
To be honest, we had some second thoughts before arriving to this restaurant as some of the recent reviews in English were pretty negative and I'm glad we did not cancel our reservation: it was a fabulous dining experience. We reserved our table well in advance via their website. That part worked very well. From the moment we arrived until we left, the service was very customer oriented and very professional. We were greeted immediately, taken to our table swiftly, as we do not speak Spanish, our English menus were handed out timely, from the sommelier to head waiter, the service was impeccable. The atmosphere was very chic and elegant with white linen tablecloths and graceful flowers on the table, no music, nothing to disturb you other than the murmurs coming from other tables. We really liked it here. It was a big surprise to see that that are at least 5 different dining rooms inside in addition to 2 private dining rooms for small groups and an outside section. The meals were all delicious. We opted for a seafood based choice and everything we ordered was delicious including the wine. Yes it is true this is an expensive restaurant but it worths every penny if you are looking for a sublime dining experience.
El Paraguas is located in a gorgeous residential part of Madrid. We arrived early so we strolled the area. Lovely neighborhood. It was worth going just to see it. The restaurant has a warm, cozy, luxurious ambiance with furnishings in soft pastels. We ordered the crab lasagna as a starter, which was delicious. We both had the Asturian green bean stew, one with crab, the other with lobster. They were very tasty but perhaps a bit overpriced considering that the dishes were basically good bean soup with a few chunks of seafood. In retrospect, we shouldn't have both ordered bean stews. I had the apple flan for desert; lovely, but not as creamy as other flans I ordered while in Madrid. The apple interfered with the creaminess that I love about flan. The service was professional but perhaps tried a bit too hard. We felt that someone was fluttering around us too much. It wasn't my favorite experience in Madrid, but I recommend it for the ambiance, the location and for an elegant (pricey) dining experience.
EL PARAGUAS was a perfect restaurant! Higher quality food, prepared well , presented well and served well by their professional and courteous staff! Lovely soft-lit cozy atmosphere on the second floor of this restaurant was accompanied by a welcoming wait staff. We chose a nice green salad with tuna accompanied by a choice of bread. Our main course choices were: 1. Grilled sea bass with oysters 2. A grilled fillet cuts alongside broccolini We had decaf espresso’s after our delicious and well prepared meal. The restaurant included small sweet delicacies alongside our espressos which we enjoyed! Many Madrid locals seem to enjoy this restaurant and as tourists we will visit this great restaurant again to try dishes we observed other patrons enjoying !
