Roast potatoes where old too hard to cut into beef was too tough to chew. Given a slight discount for the disappointing meal but the damage was done we left feeling dejected.
Stayed here for a night while working nearby. The motel style rooms are large, well-equipped and clean. It's a popular place for a stopover for cross-channel travellers. I can't comment on the food as they don't do food on Mondays (when I stayed) but the pub is nice and the hosts very welcoming. Great value in a nice area
We came to this pub over 21 years ago and came back across it out on a drive recently and decided to see how it’s faired. Had a very nice Sunday lunch here yesterday, food was nicely prepared and cooked by the chef, service was very good and the the waitress that served us was very helpful, cheerful, efficient and went the extra mile will certainly be coming back
We stopped in for a meal on our way back to Headcorn and had a lovely experience. The highlight of our night was the friendly and helpful young lady who served us, as well as the manager. We will definitely be returning. The steak pie I had was delicious, so a big thank you to the Chef as well.
I had a group of 24 for a belated Birthday celebration at The Hawkenbury. I was able to choose the sandwich fillings and they were nicely presented and delicious. The selection of cakes, although not home-made (and I didn 't expect them to be) were good too. I had my own 60 's music, played through their sound system and John, who 'waited ' on the tables, was very attentive and accommodating. I liaised throughout with Alison, the Licensee, and was very happy that I had everything I wanted and the party went really well. The cost of the Afternoon Tea was very reasonable and I didn 't have to pay for the private room. I would definitely go back for another group function.
