To talk about quality price ratios in Milan there is no better (or worse) example of EXIT gastronomyurbana in the beautiful and quiet Piazza Erculea, a stone 's throw from chaotic Missori. In this luxury kiosk, furnished with style (the Venetian briccola wood that covers the interior and which I immediately recognized even if none of the staff had any idea what it was is truly a gem), you can have a simple aperitif or you can opt for a more substantial meal choosing from a selection of gourmet dishes. We chose the first solution and accompanied two glasses of verdicchio with a small plate of coppa and a focaccia from Recco from the famous focacceria Manuelina, served with seasonal vegetables, in this case good friggitelli. We concluded with a good Calabrese Jefferson amaro, already best herbal liqueur at the international spirits award. It would all seem very good and very beautiful... the problem is a quality/price ratio that I would define as offensive, imbued with a sort of snobbery, and which nullifies all the good intentions of this beautiful place. The cup is discreet, but not exceptional, it does not have a perfect consistency and the taste, although good, does not excite; less than half a pound: €12. The focaccia is really good, ok, but it must have some pure gold in the dough, otherwise I can 't explain the €20 price, if it 's not a record for a popular food like focaccia, it 's close. Verdicchio is usually a wine with an excellent quality/price ratio, it 's a shame that this was among the most anonymous Verdicchios I 've ever drunk. The €8 per glass for the Jefferson is simply sensational, which retails for €26 PER BOTTLE (also, the quantity is stingy). Large (read: excessive) staff and location can partly justify this pricing, but still only an impression remains: a lot of smoke, very little roast. Welcome to Milan (center), friends! This gem has become not just one of my favorites but our neighborhood go-to. Whether it's savoring a late-night cocktail with Pane, burro, e acciughe or delighting in a spectacular deconstructed tiramisu to wrap up a date night, it never disappoints. Boasting a superb wine list, a seasonally changing menu, and passionate, knowledgeable staff, it's a captivating spot for any occasion and has effortlessly won its place in our local routine.
