I was the third time in mainz' urigstem brewhouse. two times I was very satisfied: eating a dream, prices absolutely appropriate, beer freshly tapped, service routined and friendly. all in all successful visits. my third visit was disappointing. although only about four tables and a few places were occupied by theke, the service was inattentive. the beer came to the table only when the foam crown had already melted away. the main dish was good, but clearly spiced, and then especially three times: as an appetizer we wanted to spundekäs. in the map, this was supposed to be praised with "fresh brezeln to it". the small portion spundekäs, which was obviously not self-made, would be served without wobble, but with mini-salt pulps instead of lukewarm pulps. and that for 5,50€. simply cheeky. maybe a saving program was launched here. less service
This is a charming beerstüberl in the Rhinestraße, obliquely opposite the Rathaus and a block west of the Rhine Promenade. have already eaten several times and enjoyed each of their meals. the menu is not extensive, but all the usual suspects are there. the white carving of my wife was huge and very good. I am a slave of bratwurst, served with sourded herb and a warm kartoffel salad. theirs is very good. the special at the braustüberl is the paulan yeast white beer from the barrel. this is an excellent white beer from a little bit and the only place I know in mainz that has it from the touch.
