My first time there. A group of coworkers and I had drinks and a really nice dinner here. The food was wonderful. I will go back.
Small typical Mainz wine pub. Food is freshly prepared and tastes excellent. Menu is not big but there is something for everyone. Wine selection is large and offers local, Rhenish wines. There are also various beers for wine suspects. Operation very courteous and friendly. At peak times it can take a bit to eat. The best way to book for 2 people is to find a place. As in real Mainz pubs, one is simply put to the table with others.
A small, wonderful neighborhood location about a 5 minute walk from the Hyatt. The schnitzel and the roast chicken (with fried potatoes) were both great. Nice selection of wine and beer. Very nice, english-Speaking host and staff.
If you are down taking a walk by the river, you might want to know that Holztor is right where you are. They have both english and german menus, so no need to worry about the language barrier. I had the schnitzel with mushrooms and side salad and I couldn't finish it all. The raspberry vinaigrette was different but went very well overall with the schnitzel. There is also a patio in the back and front should the weather be warm. If you are inside, it is typical german restaurant in looks.
