Hahnenhof - Mainz

Alteingesessene Weinstube. Typisch mit dunklem Holz vertäfelt. Dadurch etwas dunkel. Meist Österreichische Küche. Hervorragende Schnitzel und Backhendl. Auch der Kaiserschmarren ist hervorragend. Die Sonderkarte bietet zusätzlich immer ein paar gute saisonale Gerichte. In der Weinkarte findet sich für jeden etwas. Preislich in Ordnung, Service, wenn es voll ist, manchmal etwas langsam. Immer gut besucht, deshalb besser reservieren!

Quaint restaurant. Recommended by staff at another restaurant we visited earlier in the week. Off the beaten path a few blocks from the river walk so mostly locals.

This was a truly excellent place to visit with friends when I was in Mainz in October. The chicken dishes were excellent, but there are many other traditional dishes on the menu as well. The wine list was outstanding, the noise level good (not TOO quiet, but convenient for conversation) and the staff friendly in three languages.
