I'm accustomed to paying around $6-8 for a loaf of similar quality, never double digits. While the products are great, the high prices may deter me from returning, as I believe in paying a fair price for what I'm getting.
I stumbled upon this restaurant during a morning walk and decided to give it a try due to the large crowd outside, and I was not disappointed. Since I had some time to kill waiting for my son to finish his morning sports, I decided to dine in with my daughter. I ordered the custard slice, which was absolutely delicious. My daughter had the vegetarian pastie and she said it was the best she's ever had. I also bought a chicken pie, two pork and fennel sausage rolls, a vegan pie, a loaf of ciabatta, and another custard slice to take home for lunch. The pastries were flaky, the fillings were flavorful, and the ciabatta crust was perfection. I will definitely be returning for more in the future.
I discovered Nettle and Knead through the Instagram account fromthewild, which features amazing gluten-free and vegan desserts. Nettle and Knead is a delightful and charming restaurant with a mix of cozy furniture, including couches. Upon entering, I was impressed by the wide variety of pastry choices, both sweet and savory. The display of muffins and pastries made my mouth water. In addition to pies and sausage rolls, they also offer frittatas and other options. I opted for the pork and fennel sausage roll, a soy chai, and the fromthewild peanut butter and caramel cake. While I enjoyed the food, I wished they had a homemade relish or something besides tomato sauce to accompany the sausage roll. The cake was especially delicious. The restaurant was bustling with locals, tradespeople, and those on their work lunch break. The service was friendly and efficient. I am excited to return and try more pastries, as the muffins looked tempting. I highly recommend Nettle and Knead to everyone - it's a must-visit spot!
Popular neighbourhood coffee and lunch spot. A step up from most bakeries. Good range of interesting breads with Fig and Walnut a firm favourite. Mostly organic. The well chosen small range of pies and pastries are also excellent.<br/ <br/ Previously was Wild Loaf and still has many of the same breads as the bakery in the Central Market
We haven't been for ages, like the last time about 12 months ago), an employee fell the small sauce container, it landed on the floor and then he put it back to be used again... that freaked me out! Today I thought we would treat ourselves and get drinks and pastries to take away. How hard can that be... pretty hard apparently! I ordered a coffee, a hot coffee and 2 pastries. When I came home, I realized that I received; two coffees that they had even written on the cup had neither choc topping, and one of the pastries was stale. If I realized that at the time, I would have said something, but you're going there. disappointment as we live on site and thought we would give him another way. If not disturbed in the future, instead could try the place next door!
