My drink came about 10 minutes later and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. It took nearly 30 minutes to come out and was dry with watery gravy. It was edible, but only just. Chicken Fried steak should be tender, with good breading, and the gravy should be nice thick sausage gravy. While this might pass in the backwoods of Kitsap County, it would result in angry mobs anywhere in the South. I'm not looking to feel like I am being fed the best Chicken Fry out of Alabama, but I would hope that what I receive is at least a decent homage to one of the staple comfort foods of America. I am going to give them a while, then try them again at which time I will update my review. Everyone has bad days, I understand that. Hopefully, this was a fluke and not the norm for a business that terrific potential.
Terrible service because lack of wait staff. Food has gone down hill from what it used to be. Too bad because the location is quite nice.
The wife and I stopped in, we were taking a pre-4th of July mini trip. We were greeted as soon as we stepped in, and took a seat at one of the indoor picnic tables, with a great view of Seattle and Blake Island. The waitress appeared soon after we seated ourselves, took our drink order and left the menus...when she came back with our drinks Super Goose IPA for me, iced tea for the wife we ordered two plates, she had the calamari-fried clam, and I had the cod fish and chips. The order arrived hot and soon. Both items came with coleslaw, which was nicely done, not too wet, with a good tang and crunch. My cod was deep fried in a panko breading, not over cooked and very crunchy! The wife's calamari and clams had been frozen why oh why, in the PNW? but were good, not fried to a crisp. The tartar sauce was some of the best I have ever had, I could have used a spoon it was just fantastic! Not too sweet, lots of pickle bits. Service was great, she didn't hover over our table, but cam back just when I needed another tartar sauce, and the wife needed some sweetener for her iced tea. We will be back for the burgers!
So many times have we asked ourselves, Where can we go out for a solid meal that works which doesn 't require dressing up or taking out a loan for dinner? Somewhere that is local and feels comfortable and most notably, the menu meets everyone on some level? Good food, great location, and served by friendly people. Well, we found it at the Manchester Grill, formerly Family Inn at Manchester. Following three visits recently, we believe the Manchester Grill hits the spot on all three levels. First, the menu is standard family fare but features a number of items often overlooked including Liver and Onions, Meatloaf, and a stellar Salmon. We also have had their fried chicken, rib eye, and hamburger special. Everything was done right. In addition, you have indoor dining or patio dining which includes a stellar view of the water and Seattle. Finally, the staff goes over board to assure our needs are met; non intrusive and genuine, Overall, this is our go to restaurant when we need a break from cooking or need a place to get a way. Its our new first choice. With prices topping out at $13.95 for a 10 ounce Rib Eye Steak with all the trimmings, or Fresh Grilled Salmon at $12.95 ... we could not do better elsewhere!
It's okay, but they took away the veggie burger, the one thing that my mom likes.
