The food was really good and the bill for 3 of us came to under £50 which was excellent considering we were all stuffed full of food by the time we left!
We wanted something to eat not far from the AO arena and as pie lovers thought this fitted the bill. I booked online so we had a table but there were plenty available had we just walked in. The staff were friendly and the steak ale pie we had didn't disappoint. They have happy hour on select drinks 4-7 Mon to Fri and we were told show all the main sporting events which is a crowd pleaser. It was quiet when we visited, probably due to it's location, tucked away in a quiet back street, if you are in the vicinity it's worth a visit
Ate there on a Saturday night, 5 friends. Tables and benches sticky and serious problem with fruit flies in December as well ! The pies were good though our order was messed up and one of my friends did t receive his order until we asked for it. Barman brought his order and literally threw it at him , no apology or anything , even though he had made zero fuss and politely chased up his order . The food was good but place needs a really deep clean and retraining for at least one of the bar staff ! Beardy long hair man, you know who you are !!
Great pies!!! We really enjoyed to watch a football match while having a delicious pie and a pint. Totally recommend the visit!
Well, this is no pie and mash place, as I have eaten at in London; and in Oldham when we had pie and mash as supper playing darts, provided by the landlady of the Shepherd 's Boy in Oldham [Lancashire] in 1969. So, we were in at lunchtime, and the offer was £9.95 for a pie and a pint. The beer was great but we did not eat, my Down son and I. It is a cold warehouse, in sense that the ceilings are very high and being down a side alley is not sunlit! Same in the Summer? In the evening I had the three cheese and potato pie; well I presume there were three cheeses, but goat 's cheese seemed to dominate. The few pieces of potato were undercooked, that id HARD! Response from unsmiling waitress when I told her: I 'll tell 'em. No offer of refund. My son who had pie and mash, though we had not ordered mash, but roast spuds, as chip are verboten! He enjoyed his bacon and chicken etc pie. The roast spuds were cold. Only one member of staff that we actually interlocuted with, was friendly. The others did not speak or were reticent, If you go wear plenty of insulating garments!!!!!
