Gerry's Grill - Manila

Whenever I'm at Robinson's Place Manila, I struggle to decide where to eat. It's not that there aren't good options; it's just that I prefer not to spend a lot on meals, and this place is filled with expensive choices. I don’t want to have a quick bite during our visit, so we explored the shopping center from top to bottom, trying to find a place that fits my budget. We also added another requirement: it had to serve beer. This second request eliminated most of our options, as many restaurants don’t include beer on their menus.

I would rate this place a solid 4. While exploring the neighborhood with some friends, we found ourselves craving the house specialty, their grilled squid. Although there was a bit of a delay in our order, it was definitely worth the wait! The squid was tender and delicious, marinated in a familiar blend of soy sauce and sugarcane, which paired perfectly with steamed rice and a cold San Miguel beer. I also want to give a thumbs up to their pakbet, topped with flavorful chicharrón, and their chop suey. It’s a fun spot to hang out, with TVs inside usually playing sports. The climb to the top floor is well worth it!

My friend was hospitalized, so we opted for takeout instead of dining out. We decided to call Gerry’s Grill because we love their food. Dining there has always been a pleasant experience, but I’ve found that when ordering to-go, the chicken kebabs can sometimes be a bit dry and lack flavor. However, their kare kare remains the best, and the grilled squid was still soft and tender. We spent a total of Php 5,000 on this order, and it did not disappoint; we felt satisfied and had plenty left over, which we donated to some street kids.

The grilled squid and pakbet... the main reasons why we keep going back Service is friendly, even if the waiting time can be long, especially if you are hungry!

Favorite restaurant for special occasions. We always order their lumpiang shanghai and sugba kilaw. Their veggie rice is so good. And if there's room for dessert, their halo-halo is the best!
