The dinner portions are not worth the price, and there was barely any cream cheese in the cream cheese wontons. To make matters worse, we were missing one of our items and didn't realize it until we got home, so we had to return after closing to retrieve it. Overall, it was a really frustrating experience. This used to be one of my favorite spots, but I won't be returning.
The service was adequate (since it was takeout), but it's definitely not what it used to be. We’re from Arizona, and whenever we visit family in town, we always make it a point to order from Kitty's. We absolutely love the salt and pepper pork with its crispy coating that melts in your mouth, as well as the boneless fried chicken, and I always opt for the shrimp fried rice. However, it’s clear that something has changed. The salt and pepper pork was completely lacking flavor; it was bland, greasy, and the coating was hard and crusty. Honestly, it reminded me of Captain Crunch because it hurt the roof of my mouth. The fried chicken was slightly better in terms of the coating, but it, too, had no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was mushy, and the shrimp was tough. I’ve heard the owners retired and handed the business over to their children, but unfortunately, it seems they didn’t pass along their cooking skills. After enjoying great food there for several years, we’re now on the lookout for a new spot. It’s very disappointing.
The service was excellent, and the ambiance was pleasant and inviting. The staff was very friendly, and I have to say, it's the best Chinese food in town!
Angela, Kitty’s cousin, mentioned that she is aware some customers have been unhappy, and she's been making an effort to keep the recipes as close as possible to what they used to be. Honestly, I don’t mind if there are changes from what Kitty's used to serve because it was tasty! Maybe Kitty used to handle custom orders for those dissatisfied customers. Angela mentioned that a couple came in asking if Kitty was still there, and when she said no, they left without giving her a chance. My boss and coworker tried the Wonton Favorite Noodle Soups and both enjoyed them. They noted a difference in the flavor of the broth, as it has a heartier beef flavor, which they liked. I still think the portion sizes are generous. I told my family that I had lunch at Kitty’s with my coworkers, and they quickly headed over for dinner and even sent me some photos! They had a wonderful experience and loved their meals, which included Coconut Shrimp, General Tao Chicken with Chow Mein (no veggies), and the Sweet and Sour Pork combo. I really hope everyone gives the new owners at Kitty's a chance!
This is a wonderfully accommodating local family-run restaurant. I ordered the salt and pepper beef with a side of Mongolian beef sauce and the fried baby potstickers. My husband chose the General Tso’s chicken, along with fried rice and chow mein.
