Central - Manteigas

Came here on a very quiet Tuesday evening with not much else open. Restaurante Central looked cheerful and welcoming. Rapt with our choice right from the start. Fabulous service: had fun sorting out the menu and asking questions, trying to translate English to Portuguese and vice versa. Very patient and kind waitress. Ordered the Beans Marteigas a delicious pot of beans, veggies, pork and sausage) and the Marteigas trout….. so good. Massive serving of deliciously fried local trout with braised cabbage and potatoes. All washed down with a sparkling water and Sagres beer of course. Had a lovely chat with the staff afterwards. Highly recommended. Peace and love!!!

Such a cozy restaurant, with the most friendly staff I have seen in my stay in Portugal. Its menu poses a modest but just enough variety of dishes, and I have absolutely no complaints about this establishment, and its location is near relevant and interesting sites of the city, like the Church of São Pedro. On a side note, the prices are more than fair. You can get a meal for as cheap as 10€.

We have been motoring through the mountains and stopping to take pics in the cold. The warm food was a brilliant respite from the cold. We both enjoyed the refuel and are ready to head back out into the cold.
