Just meters away from the busy places, the perfect experience you’re looking for in Italy: nice food, packed with locals and very decent pricing! Just perfect!
We were glad we arrived on the early side of the lunch hour (around 12:15) because by the time we left there was a line outside the door, seemingly mostly locals. An intimate place with some loud banter amongst the cheerful clientele. We got a nice bottle of barolo wine, melon with prosciutto (melon was a tad on the unripe side but prosciutto was great), tortellini with a creamy walnut sauce (yummy), guinea foul (good). The supplied bread was not great. Everything was an excellent value. Service was very friendly and prompt. No hygiene issues as complained of in reviews of a few years ago, but the toilet is of the squat style (which is rare now, but I’ve seen it in a few Italian places that cater more to locals than tourists including one Michelin bib gourmand). The menu has English translations. I recommend it as an authentic local spot. Too bad we didn’t have room for dessert as the descriptions sounded great.
Esperienza eccellente; ottimo cibo e personale molto gentile. Gli ingredienti di Mantova sono i protagonisti del menu; una persona celiaca aveva più di un'opzione.
Veramente un ottimo posto per chi ama la carne bollita
