Good food ( nachos, cheese and beans are a go to appetizer) great service (Saul will go out of his way to attend to your needs ) and the view ( especially at night) is alone worth the visit! One word if caution: the Margaritas are deadly, and more than one rookie ( and the occasional veteran) has suffered the consequences of over indulging. Go and enjoy.
This is a bit of a trek up a steep hill, but when we arrived on the property there was a little bus to shuttle us up. As a result, I'm sure it must have quite a spectacular view, although we didn't really get to experience as we arrived for dinner after dark. The tables are situated on an open air patio. It wasn't terribly busy, but the minimal staff were working hard. The coatimundi's made an appearance during our meal (which, if you are unfamiliar--as we were--are a sort of a raccoon looking creature, with longer faces, and longer, skinner tails) as well as two resident cats. I'm not a huge fan of watching other diners feed wild and or domesticated animals from the table at a restaurant, but some might find it amusing I suppose…. I don't think the staff were thrilled about it either, but I'm sure they felt had to be polite about it and let it happen.Saul was our waiter (and everyone's waiter!) and he was charming and helpful and efficient. There were specials and he made recommendations. My boyfriend had a shrimp roll starter that he loved and a pasta dish that he was just crazy about. Both were very rich. I had a caesar salad which was very nice and the special, a mexican plate, which was a very large portion. It was not the best local food I've experienced while here, but still quite good. This was a quirky place for sure. An enjoyable if not slightly bizarre evening. I have heard it is a nice place for breakfast, but we never made it back during our trip; we probably will if we are in the Manzanillo area again.
After Hurricane "Patricia", unfortunately most of our oceanside restaurants were wiped out and are in repair now. Nevertheless, life goes on, and so do our Birthday's!!We chose to celebrate my Birthday, November 10th, with 30 of our dearest friends present here in our area. We chose the "Palma Real" Restaurant, that was temporarily moved into the Condo complex of Palma Real, because of it's extraordinary view of our Bay from one side to the other. As with most of the restaurants on and near the beach, they were wiped out with the strongest hurricane recorded ever in the Western hemisphere, "Patricia", Because of the excellence of their food preparations. I called Saul, the Manager at the Rest, a couple of days prior and he set everything up. And beautiful it was!We had an array of excellent choices, starting with "botanas" (h'orduerves) and then the main meal. We had the breaded shrimp, cole slaw, potatoes. Everyone was exceptionally pleased with what they had to eat. They also gave us a discount. Additionally, they housed a family of Coati-mundies which are called "Tejon" in Spanish. They were tame and waiting for some goodies which all of us supplied. It was an added and unexpected attraction to the Restaurant. Aside from Seafood, they serve Mexican, Beef, Pork and Chicken dishes. Excellent drinks!!! Liquor and otherwise! Affordable to everyone. Excellent service.
Unfortunately, their original location was damaged by Hurricane Patricia. However, their temporary location is GREAT! The views are fantastic, it's open with plenty of breeze. Over many years we have enjoyed countless breakfasts and dinners here. Saul always greets us with a smile on his face. Service is great. The food has always been very good as well. Chilaquiles for breakfast are a must. The dinner specials are always well done. Very enjoyable place.
