Locanda Marcella - Marano sul panaro

The food was excellent! The family was very friendly and welcoming. Our server was great and helped us understand the menu.

We ate dinner here two nights in a row in late-September. I could not get enough of their tortelloni with ricotta, parmigiano reggiano and crispy pancetta (with a balsamic drizzle); it was delicious! After he had a bite of my tortelloni the first night, my husband easily agreed to return the next night and order his own plate of it. Though it was not on the menu, the staff made us insalata mistas, too, which we appreciated. We are not often in the area, but we will make the trek an hour south of Modena just for the opportunity to dine here again. The food and service are fantastic, and we thought the prices were more than fair, especially for the quality. It's a gem in the countryside!

We were so looking forward to dinning at ristorante Bergo Marcella, as it was recommended by so many people to us for having outstanding food. We could have gone on a bad night but if you like Birds Eye Frozen style battered chicken then this would suit you just fine. We were absolutely appalled to be served chicken that was completely RAW in the middle!! The pasta was probably the worst pasta we have ever tasted! It was not freshly prepared and you could probably get better pasta from the supermarket. The lasagne was awful, it was hard and crusty on top, like it had been reheated from previous nights. Not how a lasagne should be! On top of all that, it was very expensive for what we had! Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to spend a decent amount on food, but it has to be good food to begin with! This restaurant is not what it's hyped up to be!
