We stayed at the linked hotel and decided to eat here. It was an excellent choice. We shared an anti pasto, and a primo piatta. These were octopus and homemade pasta respectively. They were very well cooked and presented. Perhaps most importantly, they were both good. For our secondi piatti, we had separately salt cod fritters and pork tournedos. Again these were splendid. The wine accompaniment was local white wine by the glass. Not cheap, but also very well matched. We were sated by the good food and the attentive, but not overbearing, service and so declined pudding (or dolce). Overall, an excellent meal in a delightful quiet setting in this historic town.
We feel can describe this restaurant as a secret gem due to the position and the quality of food an service they offer. there are not words that can explain the atmosphere you can enjoy while eating here, the only way is to test it. The excellent quality of the ingredients and the love people here have for this please is enough for an unforgettable experience.
We were staying at the hotel and had two delicious evening meals here. The salads and vegetables were extremely fresh, with excellent pasta, fish and meat courses and delicious local wines. Service was friendly and attentive. My only minor complaint was not being given more than a grissini stick and bread roll each (though this was replaced with another later in the meal) and the fruit with ice cream for dessert was not quite what I asked for. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable evening both times and obviously a perfect choice when staying at the hotel.
Hotel restaurants often get a bad rap especially in the U.S. even in our travels throughout Europe, they are not always the best choice for us but yet very so often we find an exception to this rule. We ate at Il Sacello on our first night at the hotel was at the top of a big hill and it was a Sunday with few choices. It was a fortunate choice for us as the meals were superb and the service friendly and accommodating down to the smallest details. While the pricing was perhaps a bit higher than the local restaurants considering the quality and service, we felt it to be a relative bargain. If you are a pork fan the Tournados of Pig were outstanding and the homemade pastas delightful.
