This establishment deserves all five stars... We, four of us, enjoyed the most fabulous meal last evening. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. I was extremely pleased with the overall experience. Whew, I think that I've used up all of my superlatives. Give it a go and say hello to Sandy, your wait staff/sometimes bartender. She mixes some great drinks.
Marblehead is a charming old town by the sea and sometimes it takes a bit of creativity for a restaurant to find a suitable location. Turtle Cove found a location upstairs from a Dunkin ' Donuts. The climb ain 't worth the effort. Despite a reservation, you can be seated near the bar instead of the far more enticing dining room even when tables are empty. Thought of differently, ordering an expensive entree seems a bit out of place with a ballgame and loud cocktail shakers. Service was certainly attentive and knowledgable this included informing us (after we tried ordering it) that a menu item, foie gras, has since been removed from the kitchen but not removed from both the on line printed menu (still). In a day and age when menus can be printed at will, this is insulting. The delicate taste of lobster wraps were buried beneath the bacon, the subtlety of the scallop tacos were devoid of the taste of seafood. Thai mussels were delicious, but the value for the 6 8 shells in the half portion left us wondering, however, a childs ' portion of pasta was a standout for value, but too peppery for a child. Choices and quality of wines by the glass were, at best, underwhelming. If every other 'fine dining ' place in Marblehead lacks availability, then a meal here is OK, but with so many other choices, this would not be my first (or second, or third) choice. Minus 1 star for the missing foie gras; minus 1 star for poor value (even for fine dining), minus 1 star for mediocre food. 2 stars.
Turtle Cove is a upscale restaurant in Marblehead that my boyfriend and I went too while visiting Salem this October. Great food with good energy from an older crowd. Very busy and fast paced but is worth the wait!
Really nice restaurant and bar. Drinks are innovative, really good taste. Food was amazing. I had a tuna steak and Halibut special that was cooked perfectly. Appetizers were great, especially the tuna tartar and the mussels. Service was just right.
