This was my first visit to this restaurant, and I was on the lookout for a Mexican spot since I live in Algonac. My husband chose the enchilada meal, while I went for the super nachos. The portion sizes were generous and very reasonably priced. Both the presentation and flavor of the food were impressive. We will certainly be ordering from here again. My husband remarked that the food tasted very authentic! Thank you, LA Casa de Rosa!
I have genuinely made an effort to support this restaurant because I love Mexican cuisine and enjoy having it from time to time. Since it opened, I've been fortunate enough to visit twice. The first experience was fantastic; every dish was delicious! However, my second visit left me really disappointed. The botana didn’t come with avocado or olives, and the tamales were so unappetizing that they resembled a coney dog. That was back in February. Since then, I've tried to go back at least eight times, but they've been closed each time—until today! I was so excited to finally get in, but I ended up hanging up after waiting on hold for over 10 minutes. I totally understand that they might be busy and struggling with staffing, but being on hold for that long just felt excessive. Just so you know, the photo I took is of a tamale—not a coney dog!
This was not a pleasant experience despite the kindness of the waitstaff. We did not eat very many bites and left it on the table. My husband's drink tasted strange, the rice was odd, and there was queso where there should have been substance. I don't know anyone who would like this. We were charged for a meal we should have been paid to attempt to consume.
Cute little place. Clean. I can see it getting loud easily on a busy night.Mild salsa was pretty bland, spicy wasn't spicy but at least had flavor. Chips are great; thick, crunchy and fresh.I got the tampiquena, steak was tender and flavorful, rice left something to be desired, beans were good (hard to mess up refried beans). It came with an enchilada as well and I wasn't a huge fan of the mole, but the cheese was great. Guac was starting to brown and could have used some more lime. They did have a great drink list with multiple mixed drinks, margaritas, liquors, beer and wines.Overall there aren't many Mexican places in this area, it was good enough to go back.Side note: if you've never been to Marine City, know that you'll need to park in the street or down a few blocks because there is no parking lot. Everything is within a couple blocks though, just like any downtown.Parking: On the street.Dietary restrictions: There are GF options if you get corn tortillas.
