Most lunch dishes are inexpensive. More choices are available for dinner. The best dishes are special dishes which however have to be ordered one day ahead. That said there are still plenty of choices. Parking spaces are plentiful as the plaza is not a busy one.
Unexpected good meal and services. The decor is outdated but I only focus on the quality of food. The portion is big for each dish and yummy. The staff is nice too. They are trying to sell the special food to get more business which is understandable.
The decor is not the most up to date considering all the 'high end ' Chinese dining restaurant (i.e. those Casa chains... all around GTA, but the stuff that kitchen produces really rivals the big restaurants if not surpassing. Great value for their Cantonese stir fry/hot stone pot etc dishes. Their soup is really good...just like how mom makes it feel : their off-the menu dish selection is really quite something! Definitely cannot find in the big Chinese restaurants.
This restaurant is hidden in a little, nondescript plaza at the south east corner of 14th avenue and Brimley. There is nothing appealing about the exterior, and the interior made me want to turn and run away. However, I was with a regular customer of this restaurant so decided to stay and try it. I am glad I did because the surprisingly good. The sweet and sour pork has a sweet tangy yet light sauce that covers a light and crispy center. We also had the sirloin tips with maggie sauce and cashews also great. The dishes are prepared well and flavorful. There were only a handful of other tables and it looked like they were regular patrons, the way they interacted with the waitress (who seemed liked she was the owner), and they ordered abundantly to have leftovers to take away for the next few days. The food was very good, pricey in my opinion for the setting it was in. Interestingly enough, the customers in there looked like they could be dining in a much nicer setting leading me to think that there is some pretty decent, unique dishes to be had if one has the right 'tour guide ' there. This place also reminds me of an episode from the Sex in the City tv series where the girlfriend thinks she is being only taken to one restaurant (a cheap looking chinese restaurant, with awesome food) because her boyfriend does not want to be seen in public with her. Great food, try if you are not picky about the decor. I would ask the waitress/owner for her recommendations.
This restaurant is pretty hiddenlocated in the strip mall at 14th Ave and Brimley.
