The dry beef jerky rice noodles were delicious, and the soup had a unique, hearty broth that I really enjoyed. However, I wouldn't recommend the fried marinated egg; it was completely cold on the inside and quite dry. If you're not a fan of rice noodles, you can request wheat noodles or just have a side of soup. There are plenty of options for customization.
I was absolutely delighted with my first experience at Mi-Fen. I ordered the recommended beef double up and the Hunan zhacai fried pork, which quickly became my personal favorite. The mild spice level provided just the right amount of heat, actually surpassing what I would consider a typical mild level. Our server was very helpful with recommendations and we had a great conversation about the different regional cuisines of Hunan. You can really tell that the food is made fresh, without any fillers or preservatives. The portions were generous, filling, and truly satisfying.
I strongly suggest hiring a second waiter; the sole staff member is incredibly busy, juggling cleaning, greeting customers, packing takeout, and taking orders all at once. The dry beef jerky rice noodles were delicious, and the soup, made from a special broth, felt very hearty. However, I cannot recommend the fried marinated egg, as it was completely cold inside and excessively dry. If you’re not a fan of rice noodles, you can request wheat noodles or simply have a side of soup. There are many options for customization.
The noodle soup here is the best! It was my first time trying Me fen, and I loved it. The staff was very kind and friendly, making our experience even more enjoyable.
The restaurant is clean and has a maximum seating capacity of about 20 people. The staff was very friendly and helpful, providing recommendations and detailed descriptions of the dishes. We ordered the signature beef double up for $13.99, which came with a broth on the side, allowing us to adjust the sauce/soup consistency to our liking. While I would have preferred the noodles to have a bit more texture, the dish was flavorful and generously portioned. We also enjoyed a spicy beef with cilantro side dish, served cold in a spicy chili oil with peanuts. I loved the crunch from the peanuts and the heat from the oil, although I wish there had been less oil in the dish. I look forward to returning to try their braised beef with noodles and braised tofu, which were sold out during our visit.
