All of these dishes were delicious, and I highly recommend them. This restaurant is one of the few in the area that truly prepares Ma Po Tofu correctly. It's my favorite dish from my visits to family in Sichuan, and I’m often disappointed by how many local Chinese restaurants misrepresent it. If the tofu isn't tinged a light red with chili oil and lacking numbing Sichuan peppercorns, it simply isn't Ma Po Tofu! The staff were very pleasant and frequently checked in to ensure our food was satisfactory and that our water glasses were filled. This level of service is quite surprising, as many Chinese restaurants often neglect diners unless prompted. This was not always the case during my previous visits, so I believe they might be addressing past feedback regarding their service. However, it’s also possible we were fortunate to visit during a less busy time, allowing the staff to focus more on the customers present. My only critique would be that the prices per dish are on the higher side, but given the current rise in food costs everywhere, this is understandable. Additionally, the restaurant doesn’t seem to attract a lot of customers, even on Saturday nights. I suspect the experience can vary depending on who is in the kitchen (we’ve had nothing but great meals so far), but when it hits, it really hits!
The food here is outstanding! It’s bursting with flavor and spice. We come here regularly, and some of my favorite dishes include the stir-fried cabbage with Chinese peppercorns, the hot and sour green pea noodles (very spicy!), the chef's tofu with snow pea tips, and their delicious homemade black sesame soup with rich balls.
We had an outstanding experience with the Sichuan cuisine. We tried the fish in chili oil, twice-cooked pork, and chicken fried rice, and all of the dishes were absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself was spacious and clean, and the service was impressively quick and very friendly.
This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The waitstaff highly recommended their seafood and urged us to order lobster, fish, and more. In the end, we were charged much more than we were led to believe. Moreover, the restaurant automatically added a 15% tip to our bill without asking us first. We used to visit this location of Red frequently, but it seems like the ownership has changed. There were hardly any other customers there during our visit. If you're considering going, please be very cautious and check the latest reviews.
Parking: You can usually find parking somewhere in the plaza. Dietary restrictions: Be aware that some dishes may contain peanuts and other ingredients.
