Maroubra Junction Hotel

We was eating here once a week, this was our go to place for a great steak meal, great food for the money. WHAT has happened, we went away for a fortnight, came back and everything has changed!!!The prices have gone up (well that's ok) BUT the portion sizes have got a lot smaller, the sides have changed as well, you used to get a fried egg and onions for one side, now this is one side each and the food is cooked badly, mostly over over steak and cold.We decided that this must be a one off so went back again last night, nope it was just terrible!!!Both of our meals had to go back as the steak was like a bit of leather (eye fillet)my husband literally had 9 chips on the plate (in a bowl) and cold mushrooms. When his plate came back yes the steak had been changed but it was the same chips and mushrooms (both of which were stone cold) They have changed the salad to a green one which was terrible and no dressing. $29 for this plate of terrible food has now lost our business.The bistro was full but on looking there was not one empty plate left on a table. That's a lot of unsatisfactory food, seeing as the portion side is now so small.We will not be going back, sadly to say!!!

So first time for me & had heard from friends REALLY REALLY GOOD STEAK. I ordered the sirloin medium not bad was a bit on the thin side to the usual sirloin cut I like. Ordered 2 sides baked verges & cauliflower white cheese sauce and the sause I ordered was the mushroom. Steak was nice & tender. The baked veges were sooo not baked more like steamed and the mushroom sauce not 1 mushroom in sight. I looked around and saw some amazing dishes being presented but big fail on my dish. Should've gone with my gut & had the Kangaroo Salad. I will go back again & hope I also don't have a 45 minute wait for my meal to come out. Also ordered a glass of wine with my dinner really $7 for half a glass come on.

No frills easy cheap eats. This pub is very no frills and local.

The food is fantastic, and there's always great people watching.

This place is amazing! But not really in a good way.
