We knew the restaurant was a bit overpriced, having checked their website in advance. But, once seated, we found that the menu didn't have anything to do with the one that was published in there. Ony 5 starters and 5 mains written on a sheet of paper. That was all. Dishes are well presented, but a bit too small, and definitely not value for money. No desserts menu, the lady told us that they had two different desserts. Both were pretty bad, and we paid 18 for each!! There are no toilets, just a rundown bathroom in the backyard. This is not what you expect in a restaurant that costs 65 dollars per person (without drinks, it is BYO). Service was ok.
Intimate dining is one thing but two people in an otherwise empty restaurant is just plain weird. The (very expensive) menu had changed a week earlier to a (still expensive) menu containing 70% fewer dishes. Portions were small, given the price, but, because we were the only ones there, the service good. it seemed to me that running a restaurant like this was beyond the capabilities of the manager. Not a place we would go back to.
The food and service was very good. The selection is limited but there is plenty to choose from to satisfy most. The only issue is that it is priced a little too high. 3 course dinner for 2 cost $180.
This was the first time I have gone to a Peruvian restaurant and really looking forward to it especially as it had been recommended to me. The reviews I had read weren't bad as people spoke about a modern take on Peruvian cuisine. Unfortunately it was rather disappointing. Service was good by two young Colombian waiters but the food was just average for what it was and based on the prices they were charging for everything would have expected way more. Of the mains and entrees there were approx 5 dishes that weren't available. Being a first timer to the cuisine it would have been nice to have tasting plates to try different national dishes but the way the menu is set out it is more in the traditional - entree, main and dessert and all pricey. Speaking of dessert, when we asked what was available we were told that it would be a long wait no matter what we ordered as the kitchen was very busy. The restaurant was only about 2/3 full so not sure how busy they could have been? Besides it was a Sat night so they should expect more people. The piece de resistance came when I got the bill and saw that the Pisco Sour drink I ordered cost me $21. I have had this cocktail many times before in much fancier places and never paid this amount for one. So all in all a not so pleasant night. Expected more.
