Nicks Wine Bar is awesome. Fantastic wine and cocktails and the Sommelier, Bridget, was top class, very knowledgeable and a delight to talk to. High recommend the staff, drinks and atmosphere. So glad its one of my locals.... Wayne
Came for the wine and stayed for the nice ambiance and unexpectedly good food. Waiters seem to know their wine well and offered good recommendations, the speakeasy vibe is very pleasant and the food was really great in particular the tuna crudo which was close to phenomenal. I'm surprised to see mixed reviews, I'll go again and update if needed.
Not worth it. Paid $30 for “pumpkin cannelloni” the pasta wasn’t properly cooked (we couldn’t even cut through it with a knife) and the filling tasted like scrambled egg, no taste of pumpkin and no flavour at all. Also ordered “hash browns with Parmesan cream” which was just sliced potato with sour cream on top.. When it came to the bill it was very rude to automatically apply a tip and stand over you as you pay making you feel uncomfortable to remove it. The service does not deserve a tip, staff are very slow. Wouldn’t mind paying the money if it was a good experience but it just isn’t.
Oh what a night! What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this fantastic place? The wine list is exceptional but even more so because Bridget their sommelier expertly guided us through it and we had some amazing bottles in styles (and from regions around the world) that we had never had before She really knows her stuff and was super nice to boot! The number of sherries by the glass is one small indication of the unique and considered offering of this bar. All the food is deliciously more-ish and we ordered the Oritz anchovy dish twice but the hands down best dish was their version of a crispy hash brown topped with salmon roe I wish I had some photos to post of this small but atmospheric place but I was too busy drinking, eating and enjoying the ambiance of it all. Do yourself a favour and book a table
Large selection of weeping, personal was also great with recommendations.
