The dessert was average, it wasn't Tiramisu as written on the menu and was expensive for what it was...in reality. The wine was average. Service was good and pleasant.
Off the beaten track, this restaurant is well-frequented by locals in the know. Although the only tourists there, we were welcomed with such hospitality. A fixed price summer menu showcased seasonal produce so well it was one of the best of our 3 weeks in...France. The setting by the canal is charming and the hostess is too. If you're after an authentic experience, get off the tourist track and try this little gem of a restaurant.
This ticks all the boxes for a traditional French restaurant in the countryside; excellent service, lovely atmosphere and phenomenal food. We are a family of 5 and so had a lot of changing of minds with regarding food, but the staff were friendly and accommodating....My son and I shared one of the specials of the day which was the 800 gram Côte de boeuf, at €42 for two, was incredible. Cooked to perfection, packed full of flavour it was the best cut of beef I have ever eaten... My son said the same too and he is an experienced steak eater! There are tables seated outside under the trees, near the river with only a large Chateau on the opposite side of the river to hint at any form of civilisation, which give a cosy and intimate feel. We didn't look at any of the seating inside but if you come to the south of France in summer, why would you ever want to be inside? All in all this is a quaint, underrated restaurant with outstanding food in a one of a kind location. You will be disappointed to miss this unforgettable meal!
We went with a group of 12, all food in advance. I guess if they're clear that the old shoe leather is masked as bark, they should be good. their chips were made to house and good, the escape breast of my wife was in order. but my steak was the worst thing I can say I was ever served in a restaurant, but the rest of my party seemed satisfied with their meal. I am not a curmudgeon and all the other meals I had during this 10 days on vacation were excellent. this is a strange situation in that they drive through an industrial area to get there that seems to be visited by local trades people, although when they think or enjoy sitting in plastic chairs on grass beside a river and pay 60€ / couple for the privilege to despise that this authentic French eat. they will love it.
Very pleasant location, good menu du jour beautiful served. calm flow, but not too far from the big hypermarket
