O J's Diner - Marshalltown

I'll miss this place more than any other in Marshalltown. The pancakes are to die for, the omelets are amazing, and the burgers and even the fried fish were fantastic—even though I'm not a fan of fish! It's one of the few spots in town that I truly appreciate.

Hello! It's been a while since I posted, but I recently visited a charming spot called O J'S Diner in Marshalltown. The diner is adorable and spotless, the service was fast, and the food was tasty! The prices are very reasonable too! I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Dinner, and I highly recommend it if you're in the area! Give it a try!

A hidden gem! The food is fantastic and offered at a great price. The homemade dishes remind me of what my mother or grandmother would make. I particularly love the ham and beans, which bring back wonderful memories of my grandmother and taste nearly as delicious as hers. I would recommend this place to everyone. I just wish they were open for more hours!

Everything was not a problem with breakfast for both of us.

THE GOOD AND BAD: I've seen this place in passing on my way to and from the trailer court. Doesn't look like much from afar.. wasn't until it was recommended to us by a stranger that I decided to give it a try. Walking in I immediately noticed how clean it was. Seemed newly updated. There was no sign to wait to be seated or otherwise. So we sat in the only available spot. The booths weren't very comfortable. I liked how they served breakfast and dinner all day. Was pleased they had my favourite soda. Mug root beer. I came here wanting a juicy burger and wasn't disappointed! I got the double beacon cheese burger with the waffle fries. Wasn't informed that fires were extra . The fries and burger were delicious! I gave it 4 stars because though my food was delicious the ketchup tasted bad and my boyfriends food wasn't. He got the roast beef special. Mashed potatoes were instant and the roast beef seemed like it was a frozen dinner they thawed and served. We weren't impressed especially since they boast that it's a restaurant that specializes in making their dishes homemade. But the coffee was good and the waitress was super nice and attentive. So 4 it got. I'll definitely be back.
