Mame Cafe - Martinsburg

The food and bakery are amazing but customer service not so much! The place is VERY small and there are a lot of rules like using the right door and going the right direction. The workers are not very kind when you break a rule. Overall it was frustrating trip because we went for breakfast and showed up five minutes late. There is wiggle room. Breakfast ends promptly at 10:45…not 10:46 or 10:50 as we learned.

When in Raystown, eat like the locals! Found this gem on our way out of town from visiting the lake. Will definitely be back on our future visits. Food was very good and generous portions. I liked that you grab your own mug and serve your own coffee. This way you’re not waiting on a waitress to return. And they seem rather busy so it’s a pro and not a con as some older reviews suggested. Couldn’t decide between the breakfast burrito or The Glazed Donut French Toast, which was amazingly delicious. So I got both! Wife shared of course :

My wife and I heard about this place through Trip Advisor, so while we were staying at Raystown Lake we decided to come here for breakfast. It was terrific! The portions were plentiful, the service was good, and it had a friendly feel to it. Highly recommended!!

For sure go even if you have to drive out of your way! Breakfast and lunch menu are different, so different it is hard to choose. Excellent choices, prepared from scratch, friendly folks who welcome you each and every time. The dining area is small, they all work hard to assist with covid19 regulations, so that means there might be a wait. We live 20+ miles away and stop by every opportunity we get. The bakery is also very good, you can not go wrong stopping here.

Honestly this is the best bakery/restaurant in the Altoona Central PA area. After having one of the donuts I wonder why waste my time and calories in other donuts. The variety of baked goods and menu items are amazing. All the food is made fresh (so be patient as you wait for your meal, it’s worth the wait). They have dine and and carry out. And you can pre order baked goods for any occasion.
