Masstown Market

We are regulars who often make Masstown our stop while travelling that part of the province. We generally get the chowder and spinach salad particularly in the summer when it is served with strawberries or blueberries. On Wednesday July 6, 2022 around 1:00pm we stopped for lunch and to pick up a few essentials. My husband got the chowder and I got a sandwich (with gluten free bread and spinach salad. The servers were obviously overwhelmed and struggled to get our order. The chowder was awful compared to usual. It was watery and literally had about a half dozen shrimp (looked like canned shrimp in it and potatoes. No other seafood was in it! The salad had maybe two cut up strawberries (all in a clump together and the sandwich was cut on a diagonal (which was fine with one half being 1 4 and the other being 3/4. The bread fell apart on the top and the server commented it always does that which wasn 't really ok considering the very poor presentation of the salad and sandwich both! We should have complained at the time but didn 't as it was such a surprise to us and it was quite busy! It made for a very disappointing experience!

Very reasonably priced baked goods and great price for ice cream $2.25 the chowder was pretty bad. 1/2 filled bowl and no seafood and tasteless and watery. For $8.96 i thought i got a bargain but after receiving it, i felt ripped Fish and chip next store was more memorable although bit pricey at $15.99 Overall experience ok as nice to see locals and few tourist.

We stopped in for lunch yesterday. I had the cabbage soup and a biscuit which were fabulous. The soup was full of flavour and full of vegetables. The biscuit was very fresh and to die for!! My companion had the quiche which was tasty but the pastry was extremely tough which made the dish less than good. The accompanying salad was very fresh.

Stop here every time we drive through the area. All in one stop, good coffee, bakery and produce as well as other groceries. Deli offers take away sandwiches etc perfect for a picnic. Gift shop has some good local crafts and nearby restaurant, petrol kiosk and Tim's Express mean you can get a lot done in one stop. RV parking available. Vegetarian options in deli.
