Feedback gevenThe place: Modern design that gives off club vibes (my personal opinion). Nice space with a decent number of tables. The goods: I stopped in for breakfast and ordered two eggs with sausage. Overall, it was a good breakfast that included coffee. The portion size is OK. I wouldn't say it's small but it's not overly generous. For me, it was fine. The eggs were really good, the home fries were not greasy and the sausage was tasty. Service: The girl who seated us was surly. If you're going to work with the public, and in particular, in the restaurant/ tourism industry, you might want to put a smile on your face. She left us with the impression that we were bothering her. That said, our waitress was very friendly. Price point: A bit steep for what you get but it's to be expected.
A nice modern restaurant by the beach. They are in the Riotel hotel. They have a high modern decor. We reserved for 6:30 and they were quite busy. We ordered clam chowder and duck drum sticks. The chowder was delicious, the drumsticks sweat and spicy. Very good. For our mains, the salmon tartare was the best we ever had. It was unfortunate that the pasta was dry, not creamy. They also drizzled balsamic glaze around the dish which turned me off. All in all it was quite good. 3/4 not bad. Enjoy the beach after supper.
We stayed at Riotel and ate there (Cargo is the restaurant at Riotel Matane) the first night after a full day on the road. It was a good experience, good drinks, sitting on the patio. We have visited Matane many times but never tried this restaurant. My wife wanted something simple with no onion or garlic and the hostess said pick a protein and vegetable and the chef will prepare it. Wonderful. Nice dinner, no problem. We weren't planning on eating there twice but we met up with friends and it was an easy call to go back there. Bad idea. We had reservations, but the (different) hostess was seating walk-ins and refusing to seat us. Then the (different) waitress tells us there are no substitutions allowed. After much haggling my wife gets a child's portion of pasta at full price. What is that about? The food isn't terrible, it isn't fantastic. But the issues with uneven/hostile service are the reason we will never eat here again. Unacceptable at a cantine, not to mention this place at the prices they charge.
I stayed at the hotel near the restaurant for 3 days, I didn't see the necessity to move or seek for doors elsewhere. The service it's amazing, the waitresses Anáis and Noemi are very friendly and extremely beautiful. The food is great, well served good pricing a lot of potatoes in the plates but it's a regional thing, the chef has an excellent seasoning. I recommend it a lot, especially the tartars and the pokes that are amazing.
Last night in Matane and then I'm on my way back to laval and I'm glad I stop by Cargo so far out of all the places I tried this one had the best food. I took the linguine shrimp Matane garlic sauce plate it was amazing I was really impressed. They make there own beer that I tried which was also really good . Service was excellent the decor was nice it was kind of odd looking but still nice . I took there Browne dessert which they make them self was a perfect way to end the dinner. If I'm ever in the area again I would definitely come back and see what else they can do.
