Hodgkinsons Matlock Bath

What a fantastic choice when we choose Hodgkinsons for our weekend December break. A really lovely hotel steeped in the history of Matlock Bath and the Arkwright Mills of bygone years. Our room was lovely, the bed made for comfort and views over the calming waters of the Derwent, superb! Our welcome was the best ever from really lovely people, as was breakfast. If there was a fault, we never found it. Thank you all for the memories.

Cosy hotel run by really helpful and friendly hosts. The hotel has a lot of history and retains many original features. We had a clean and comfortable room and excellent breakfasts. What more can you ask for. Highly recommended. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4

Had a great stay here. The room was perfect for my wife and I. We had a great view of the river. The saff were really friendly and helpfull. Especially with discounts for local attractions. Hotel was very reasonably priced. My only dissatisfaction and its nothing to do with the hotel or staff but the mainly motorcyclists using the main road like a race track. I'm a biker myself but would never ride in such a built up area as some of these were, I saw several close calls. Was surprised to find 9 Fish&Chip shops 2 arcades and a couple of sweet shops in about 400 meters. Other than thatbit was a great place to stay, close to the attractions and only a short walk, drive or bus journey to restaurants and attractions. Rooms: Very nice. Nearby activities: Heights of Abrahams a short walk plus lovers walk very close. Noteworthy details: On certain days you can get lots of bikers (motorcycle)

I don't often write reviews , and rarely write one a month after staying at a hotel, but remembered this morning what a great stay we had at the Hodgkinsons Hotel. The hotel is stacked with character which helps to provide a detachment from the hustle and bustle of life to help you relax and rewind .... just what me and Vickie needed. Chris and Zoe are wonderful hosts , friendly, welcoming and interesting too. Nothing was too much trouble (not that there was any). We had dinner in the restaurant and it was superb, compliments to the chef !! and the breakfast was cracking, setting us up nicely for a day in the peak district. if you are looking for a hotel with character and charm , great service and cracking food ..... you can't go far wrong We'll definitely be returning Si Vickie
