Le Clos St-Roch - Maussane-les-Alpilles

We couldn't get in here for dinner because they were closing at 8:45 pm the one night so we went back for lunch the next day and I'm so glad we did. I wouldn't miss this place if I went back to Provence! It's located near the edge of Maussane which is already a very small town and there is a charming courtyard where you eat lunch with a small fountain in the middle. The service was excellent, great wine list, and the food was very high quality. Everything was fresh, seasonal, and well-executed french dishes. We had the crab tartar with avocado and tomatoes, and then the salmon and the rabbit. Both dishes came with delicious mashed potatoes and very fresh vegetables. The portions were decent sized for France and the service was very fast compared to some of the other slower places we found in Provence. They also give you plenty of water which I found to be rare in the south of France and this makes it enjoyable to sit outside in the shade even though the temperatures were 95 degrees. This was one of my favorite meals on our whole trip and it was just a simple long relaxing lunch.

Very good, tasty, elegant dishes, in a warm and cozy atmosphere. we were a group of 6, and one of the teenagers in the group asked for something special off the menu and the chef was kind enough to prepare it. all dishes were very good, great value!

My family has eaten here numerous times. The food is perfectly prepared and served with attention to detail. Service is excellent and attentive!

This restaurant has a lovely courtyard setting which gives cool shade against the Provençal sun. We reserved in advance as we were passing by on the way to the shops and this was dealt with in a very friendly fashion. We chose the €30 three course lunch. The ray fishcake with courgette jus was a standout, but I also loved my quail with Provençal vegetables. The puddings 'au choix' were a delight. I thought long and hard about the star rating for this, I would probably have given it 4.5 stars if I could, as the cooking is obviously not as precise as at the nearby L'Oustau or Le Cabro d'Or, but that's not what you go to this place for. If you go expecting a relaxed and well-cooked formule lunch in a wonderful setting , you will not be disappointed.

Excellent food served in lovely courtyard and very nice staff. Always have a good time here and we go there a lot. Always well looked after and good value for money for the quality of food you are eating.
