State Street Tap - Mauston

I really enjoyed the fish fry here. The coleslaw had the perfect amount of dressing and was served in a paper bowl, which is a great way to be eco-friendly. They also use paper straws, which is nice to see. The fish was lightly breaded and wonderfully moist. The French fries were nice and crispy, and the corn hush puppies with honey butter were absolutely delightful. The owner is a fantastic conversationalist and actively supports the local 4-H auction, which is commendable. I wanted to try the cranberry old fashioned, but it was only 11 AM! The staff were friendly, the bar was very clean, and the decor inside and out had a lovely fall theme.

The pork tacos were fantastic—generous portions and bursting with flavor! The tender melt was also quite good. The service was top-notch, and I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the restaurant. I would definitely return! Kid-friendliness: I brought my children for dinner. Parking: There's ample parking available.

The prices were fantastic, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was just average; there wasn't much seating available besides the bar. I found the onion rings to be a bit disappointing, as they seemed to be made in-house but had too much batter and grease compared to the onion. However, the street tacos that a guy next to us ordered looked incredible, so I’ll definitely have to try those next time!

This is the place to stop. Thank you guys so much! We have never been to town, we were shed hunting in the area and stopped by before a comedy show down the road. This bar was amazing. The food was so much better than I have had at most restaurants! We had spinach dip, pizza and drinks. The drinks are not weak, the food is made as if you are in a sit down restaurant, the employees are so kind and on top of things we loved it. Kid-friendliness: There we’re families there for dinner, I would have no issue bringing my kids here.

Everyone should eat at State Street Tap Bar Restaurant in Mauston, WI. In truth, my wife is a harsh critic who is somewhat picky when it comes to food. But she loved the Ahi Tuna Tacos and I thought the Bleu Bison was great!! I highly recommend this place!! Make sure to get couple pints of Spotted Cow too!!! These are some of the best treats in Wisconsin!
