Just came back from dinner at El Faro - my husband had coconut shrimp and I had Imperial shrimp. Both were the best we have had this year, and maybe forever. Prices were excellent, service the same, and we walked away VERY full and smiling. Watched all the people on the malecon, saw a great sunset, and had a fabulous meal, what could be better!!!
My husband and I have eaten twice at this conveniently situated cafe in front of the Belmont Hotel. We had garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp as well as hangar steak. We enjoyed the shrimp and the accompanying vegetables and rice. I would suggest that the vegetables have a bit more crunch but tend to be overly cooked, especially the broccoli. Returning to watch the sunset one evening I ordered guacamole and wine. Enjoyed that too. Sometimes the wait for the food was a bit too long, especially since there were not a lot of diners. Generally however we enjoyed our visits enough to return a few times.
After a long walk we stopped I for so e orange juice. Service was great and the view was fantastic. The next time we will get there in time for lunch. The lunch menu looks great and vey reasonable.
In just a few short years El Faro restaurant on the Malecon has become a "go to" place for inexpensive quality food. Sitting outside looking out over the Pacific ocean or inside the restaurant is always a delight. The food is simple...no French sauces here. But, you will find a quality meal and a friendly staff awaiting you. The prices are so reasonable you will have plenty of money left over for the other adventures that Mazatlán offers.
