Looking over the menu for the first time I kept telling my wife that sounds good then only a moment later I would say it again then again. After careful consideration I went with the sample platter. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork. Chose the cheesy cornbread with honey butter and the baked beans. It was large enough to split with my gal. She took less than I and she still couldn 't finish it all. Loved every bit of the meats. A beautiful smoke ring on all of it. They know their business around the smoker. The cornbread was delicious but I didn 't fully care for the baked beans. They were a bit tangy and lacked the smoked meat in them that I 've come to expect. The prices were reasonable and the place was very clean. Will be back when we return to the area. Enjoy it.
Sides were great. BBQ was ok at best. The server was great and the experience was also good.
I wanted to like this bbq place! Close to our location at Massanutten Resort, very convenient and beautiful outside patio and decorated interior. We got there around 5:30pm on a weeknight and within a few minutes many other tables also seated. The waitress was super helpful explaining the items and telling us about the bakery downstairs that makes the buns and cornbread fresh. I was in a group of five women, the person that liked her food the most got the salmon. Several folks got burgers, one got chicken patty with fries, coleslaw, macaroni, cornbread,, and I got the bbq sampler. They had four homemade bbq sauce at the table, original, a mustard variety, a Carolina variety, and a bourbon sweet variety. None of them spicy, not a fan, at best used the original bbq sauce. The brisket was super tender and delicious, recommended. The pulled pork was a generous serving but a bit dry, needed the sauce, I took half mine home to eat later with more bbq sauce. I thought I ordered naked ribs but they came out blackened in a rub, I went ahead and tried them, a bit dry but okay. Would not get the dry rub again. Two of us got the cornbread loaf side, I thought it was okay with the honey butter, my friend thought it was way too dry. I ate about half and took it home with more of the honey butter. One person got the seasoned fries and shared them, they were okay, generous portion size, she was trying to eat them with mayo, was also drying with the powdered topping and very salty. We were on a dry theme with many dishes! Most people with burgers ate around their buns. Due to the sad selection of hot sauces and meh 2/3 items on sampler and average cornbread, leaning towards and average review. We had hiked all day at Shenandoah National Park and very hungry when we arrived but quickly flipped from enthusiastic to disappointed. Service was good, atmosphere was good, but didn't enjoy the food as much. Maybe eat there if nearby, good for quickly seating groups, lots of meat options.
Always a stop for a family dinner when we visit the area. Casual atmosphere with a staff that works hard to provide speedy service. Highly recommend the salmon, catfish, and sirloin based on personal experience. Nothing was overcooked and a great selection of sides. The cornbread with honey butter is a must.
No wait was seated quickly. I got the cowboy burrito which was very good. Mother in law got the ribs and brisket combo. She said the brisket was the best she's had in awhile. Wife got the BBQ chicken sandwich, it had a honey jalenpeno sauce and it was a little to spicy for her. The service was good. Very friendly and nice. They were out pulled pork. Would like to try other items. When we come back. The BBQ sauces were really good. Nice place.
