My favorite papas ever rellenos! And I love Papa's Rellenos. Just where I found a Panzeroti. Add that, and I'll like to write some nice words for a restaurant you should be patronizing. I recommend without hesitation.
From my first visit to Medellin in 2010 and fast forward 10 years later and these tasty Empanadas still hold top honors and a special place in my heart as I stop by and enjoy them just every time I am in the area. And if my Colombian friends say they are the best in all the Medellin, that means something. February 2020 at approx. 19:30, it's with people who order Empanadas. Service and quality and value will not be better! Try it yourself and enjoy!
This place is the one on Calle 9. The empanadas were only 1800 pesos each, so two with a Pepsi came out to be 5100 pesos (less than USD $2)! They were good and the spicy sauce it came was great. Hard to beat these....I think they only sold one type here, but I could be wrong.
We went to El Machetico in January 2016. We were on a Pablo Escobar tour with Trasnporter Medellin Transport and asked if we could stop by El Machetico for empanadas (which was a referral from a friend).. The place is a take-out spot, and there...was big line of locals when we arrived (always a great sign). The empanadas are big, deep fried, and greasy – great stuff for the occasional grease grenade of an empanada. If passing through Medellin, you MUST make a stop at this place.
