Monsieur Truffe is a real chocolate factory, going from grinding the chocolate beans to the finished product. There's only a glass wall between you and the factory, you can see the workers making the chocolate. By the way, you can have a cup hot chocolate made from beans from a variety of sources, all of which have distinct flavours. The chocolate is very popular and sampling is its own reward. Monsieur Truffe began as a one man operation at the Prahran market, now it can be found all over Australia and online, of course.
I have been frequenting Monsieur truffe when it first opened in Lygon st Brunswick east, a Red Door entrance then all mysterious....they have opened it up with a lovely big window...hence now its busy (good for business and our local community) but it is still cosy with its big communal wooden industrial look tables and smaller tables, a selection for all. This visit was with my female friend from Sydney and my 27yr old son. My Sydney friend was very impressed and loved her coffee, the big breakfast is what my son and I had and it was super big and hearty thick real bacon and delicious sausage and tomato relish, other food I have eaten there has always been of fresh and good quality. My love of this place is that it has been converted just superbly keeping the integrity of this beautiful building, its more than the food, and the great chocolate you can buy, the companies philosophy is what impresses me...... and friendly staff.
Lovely place with nice decor. Service staff very polite and helpful. Nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either. Ordered a cold drip and had the otway pork belly.
Got the salt beef bagel, beef was too dry to eat, bagel was burnt to a crisp. Partners pancakes were meh. Never going back.
I've heard so much about this place and was impressed from the reviews but unfortunately, i wasn't impressed with the service. We arrived at noon and was happy to wait 20 min for table as the food looked great! We waited 45 min, for a member of staff to realise, that we still had not revived our eggs on toast. A further 20min is pretty slack, but all least the food was nice
