Makoto is located right outside and downstairs from the Myers mens and kids section. *Convenience* I am still new to this city so I was unaware of how close I actually was to China town. Had I known I would have chosen wisely. Makoto's one upside is that there is usually always a seat. The down side is that the sushi train is so long that the sushi seems to rotate in an endless spiral. The sushi, in my experience of two visits, is not fresh and the ambiance is lacking to say the least. In all honesty, Makoto is one of the saddest sushi trains I have ever been to. I think that if you order from their menu you will end up with fresher delights but for me the whole point of the sushi train is the excitement of watching the food go around and picking it up at random. The service is also slow here. You can go through two or three plates of sushi before any beverages are served. And honestly after the first plate of sushi you are just wishing for your already ordered beverage so you can get the heck out.
Found by accident while heading to Food Hall. Never been in restaurant with food passing by on conveyor belt. Lots of sushi to choose from plus hot food from menu. Clean, friendly staff willing to help. Good food Recommend
Not having a lot of experience with Japanese food, we thought this would be an easier way to choose what to have. We did end up ordering some things from the menu. Soft shell crab and a curry. We really enjoyed everything we had
Not many places with sushi train do good sushi and there is still not enough sushi train restaurants in Melbourne compared to cities like Brisbane and Adelaide. So, Makoto is in the right business. I still think Sakura Kaiten is better but Makoto takes the second place easily.Food: 5/5Price: 2.5/5 ($64.70 for two)Service: 4/5 (They charge for cc usage)Overall: 3.8/5
