After we got organised and ordered, the children's meal (chips) came out first and kept them happy. All the different courses (entrees, mains and desserts) came out as groups, so no one was left waiting for more than a few minutes for theirs. This showed great adaptability by the Chef and staff to do so, as all the courses were varied. The drinks, especially the coffees were very good. We were not hurried and enjoyed a thoroughly good and leisurely lunch which lasted for nearly 3 hours. We had family photos taken afterwards out the front and the Chef (by then things were quiet) took the photos so no one missed out. To sum up; a great afternoon of family, food and good service.
Very, very disappointing. Food is very sloppy, the majority of which had no flavour! Poor communication between staff, management and customer. Waited over an hour before being told a meal was not available because the kitchen was to busy to make it!! Then took 39 minutes for the manager/owner to come to our table by which time two members of our party walked out and the table next to us also cancelled their order and left too! After a circling conversation with the owner expressing how we had been there twice and had had a terrible experience both times after being told for nearly 2 years how great the restaurant was, the owner was unsure how to satisfy our disappointment. It was then suggested that the drinks were removed from the bill by myself.
Generations of cooks have been through this totally wokked out establishment. Like a game of Chinese whispers the taste and the menu has evolved or mutated into a country town Chinese-in-the-pub experience. As usual with these relic establishments the rot has set in when chunkier pieces of frozen schlock overstocked with crunchy carrot and broccoli adorn your melamine oval punishment. Mr Poon.... if you are looking down from a takeaway heaven stop them, stop them now. My days are ended long ago of visiting you in my tartan dressing gown in slippers and wet hair. Your balloons with a Wxxxx phone number have long gone and your legacy is a chewy badly serviced bogan plastic plate of Chicken Tonight. So sad!
We have been going to Poon's for several years. Always consistent with very good quality meals and good service. Can recommend to anyone wanting a good chinese restaurant with very good table service. No credit cards here which probably help to keep prices down and there is an ATM by the front door.
Ate here tonight with family for the first time. We ordered 3 entrees, 4 mains, 2 lrg rice, jug of soft drink and 2 alcoholic beverages totalling $100. Meals were super cheap, delicious, quick and finished off with a hot face washer.(Although, restaurant very small so a little squashed and it was rather loud
