Project 219 - Melbourne

Me and a friend visited Project 219 for a casual dinner and drink. We had a great time in the bar downstairs, a very hipster little place with very comfy couches. The food was great, the burgers to die for and very reasonably sized.

Project 219 is a little hipster hole in the wall on Russell St that we found while wandering the streets on a weekend looking for coffee and breakfast. The coffee is strong without being bitter (flat white and long black). We had the big breakfast which had bacon, two eggs on toast, a hashbrown and grilled mushroom and spinach. Just the right amount of food, good price, very tasty and friendly service.

Love the downstairs 'speakeasy' bar. Great value drinks - friendly staff and very melbourne atmosphere! The cocktails are super creative and absolutely delish!

We found this place on Trip Advisor and after reading the reviews took the 800m walk from our hotel to try it out. We were not disappointed. The coffee was delicious and hot - our second cup just as enjoyable as the first. My husband had eggs benedict and I had a vege pattie with a poached egg and smoked salmon. Both meals were well presented, extremely tasty and not too large. Music was just right - a blend of Norah Jones and contemporary soft blues and not overpowering. We recommend trying this place if you are in need of a quiet spot, a lovely hot coffee and some good fresh food.

The honeymoon of this place is over. First trip was great, the owner couldn't interrupt us enough telling us all about the place. Tonight, they ran out of red wine replaced it with $7 bottle and charged $7 per glass.The burgers are good, but from now on, take away only. They play black and white movies from youtube downstairs which was on repeat, you can't help notice that in conversation. Only one toilet, no mirror in the bathroom. A wine shop trolley was left sitting around, weird.
