The menu here is a lot different to what you see in a lot of suburban Chinese Restaurants. It is much more authentic. If you are going to come here you need to be able to handle plenty of heat but the food is excellent. The service could be a bit better though, we ordered some dumplings to start our meal but they were the last thing to come to our table.
Our first time here. We asked people who were leaving this restaurant how the food was and got several rave reviews! My wife and I ordered three dishes- the wonderful cumin pork ribs, a plate of green beans with minced pork, and a plate of dumplings. All three were excellent. Portions are large here and prices quite reasonable. Beware, though, that while the restaurant accepts credit cards they charge 3 per cent extra for the privilege. So pay cash! The decor is utilitarian and the place can get very busy, but this is a must eating place for people who like hot, spicy Sichuan food. Drink lots of water and bring extra handkerchiefs or tissues!
We had the recommended cumin ribs and eggplant with fish sauce -both were fantastic! Ribs were a bit spicy for me and we did ask for mild but the cabbage ad fungus cooled me down! Not much ambience but we were there for the food!
This is a restaurant with proper Szechuan food, very spicy but very good. On the down side, service was only average and the toilets are really old and needing some repairs. I did not like the fact that they charged me 3% for using a Credit Card at the end, when I asked if I could use a Credit Card when I went in and they didn't mention that at the moment. It's not the money, it's the principle. I would recommend this restaurant for the food, it's excellent. The rest could be better.
Had dinner here last night when in Chinatown. We went along because of the great reviews on trip advisor. They are all true! If you love spicy food with big flavours this is the place for you. Only points I want to add are - beware of portion sizes, they are huge. We had 2 mains and fried rice for the 2 of us, and couldn't finish them. It was enough food for 4. Also, if you like wine, bring your own as the list is tiny and low quality. But this type of spicy food is probably best enjoyed with a beer. Payment could only be made with cash, no eftpos or credit cards.
