Tanatan Curry Place Malvern - Melbourne

We finally decided to try Tanatan for dinner on a Saturday night after noticing it on our drives by. The food was exceptional, especially the dishes from their tandoori oven and the delicious naan. The restaurant has a clean and modern interior. We have definitely found our new favorite Indian restaurant in the area!

Upon meeting Chetan, I learned that he has been in the hospitality industry for 12 years and this is his first venture in dine-in restaurants. Unlike Indian restaurants in the west of Melbourne, those in the South East often cater to a non-Indian clientele and compromise on authenticity. However, Tana Tan stays true to its name, which is Hindi slang for 'fantastic'! For starters, we enjoyed the generous portion of Chicken Malai Tikka sizzler, along with Dahi Puri, Pani Puri, and Chicken 65. As a vegetarian, I relished the rich flavors of Paneer Pasanda, Palak Paneer, and Dal Makhni. The Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Butter Masala were also satisfying. The breads were served fresh and hot from the tandoor. While the food at Tana Tan was excellent, the restaurant could benefit from more local support. Despite being open for 3 months, we were the only party dining on a Saturday night, perhaps due to our late arrival at 9pm. Some attention to detail, such as more frequent water service and table check-ins, would enhance the dining experience. The restaurant was clean, though not spotless, and had run out of hand soap in the toilets. Overall, Tana Tan does almost everything right, with excellent food that I would rate over 4.5 out of 5. Our bill for 8 starters, 7 mains, 7 breads, and 3 drinks totaled $226, offering value for money just a short distance from Chadstone Shopping Centre.

We had been eagerly awaiting a good Indian restaurant in the area, and Tanatan exceeded our expectations. The food was beautifully prepared, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. The authentic Tandoori Oven added a delicious flavor to the dishes. This restaurant is a must-visit, as it will not disappoint.

Food is absolutely delicious, service was fantastic. Best Indian restaurant in Melbourne. Perfect place to have lunch/dinner after a long day of shopping at Chadston. Recommend to all.
