The Carron - Melbourne

French living in Melbourne, the Caron, not very bewitching at first glance, charmed us from our first visit... Staff questioned about our coming to this place... Simply because it's typical Australian, warm atmosphere, simple cuisine , effective . Many draft beers are available (we are from the north of France = beer is dear to us...) A stone's throw from the CBD, I much prefer the atmosphere of this place (family) than what It happens 500 meters away, where the atmosphere is quite different... In short, the Caron deserves to be known.César

Dropped in last week and it's all boarded up. Apparently it has been sold in the last couple of weeks, and the new owners have shut it down. Shame. The Steak was good.

Has friendly staff and lots of craft beer to choose from. Yummy cured beef snacks as well. Love this place. Always stop off on way home when in melbourne

We called in to the Carron on the way to see a band at Festival Hall, and it was great! Service was spot on, meals were huge and well priced, drinks were good - a great stop if you like a straightfoward pub.

Had dinner here on a recent business trip to Melbourne and had a great meal.Was by myself, and they were fairly full when I showed up, but they asked me to wait a couple of minutes while they moved a table and accommodated me.The steak was great as was the dessert. Lemon Curd tart thing was good.They also allowed me to order a couple of glasses of Red when I placed my food order at the bar, and happily brought me over the second glass halfway through the steak.Best to try and book, as it isn't that big and gets crowded.Will happily eat there again.Good selection of beers as well.
